Whether you have been affected or not, you always want to be fed with information so that your curiosity dissipates. As a homeowner, it is important that you know how molds come about so that you can avoid them. Based on a study, there are certain factors that contribute to the growth of molds. One of the factors is oxygen. Of course, you can't eliminate oxygen because it is present everywhere and necessary to our existence on Earth. However, the rest can be avoided so that molds will not make its way into your home.

Here are the requirements of molds to grow in your home

Mold Food

Molds are also living organisms and they need to be nourished in order for them to live. They feed on organic materials, which are basically found everywhere. Some of those organic materials are found in homes like wood and paper. Even spilled food on your shirt that is left unwashed can make molds grow. All of these things are essential to your home. So, the solution is to clean areas in your home that can attract molds. Do this in a daily basis so that molds cannot live. Usually, it only takes 48 hours for molds to grow when the conditions are right.

Humid Temperature

Molds just love to stay in areas that are damp. They prefer to live in places that are wet, dark and humid. The presence of excessive humidity inside of your home forces molds to grow. That's because humid areas cause moisture. This is the element that is the main cause of molds. Moisture and molds are inseparable. Moisture can form if the air inside of your home has no proper ventilation. Also, molds grow on areas that are wet and this happens if you have parts inside of you home that have faulty plumbing.

Mold spores that are found everywhere

The last factor of mold growth is mold spores. Molds produce spores, especially if they are disturbed. They are then transmitted to the house through spreading in the air. They are really small, even smaller than pollen grains. Once they come in  contact with you, they can make you sick. Awareness should be doubled to those who have respiratory problems. They are invisible and omnipresent. It's so hard to detect and remove them because of their size. To prevent mold spores from staying in your home, always clean your air-conditioning system.

If you clean every area of the home that is prone to mold growth, you can prevent molds from growing. They can multiply fast, so you must find means of preventing them because they are hard to remove. Mold remediation is done if mold growth at home worsens. There are different companies that offer such service.
